I would like to thank the committee of the Skye Terrier Club for giving me the honour to judge this Club Show. I have been involved in the breed my entire life and it is breed I hold very close to my heart, so it was a privilege to be invited. Thank you also to all the exhibitors that entered under me and taking my decisions in a sporting manner.
Class 1 Baby Puppy Dog (0)
Class 2 Minor Puppy Dog (0)
Class 3 Puppy Dog (2)
1st) Taylor’s Verumamicus Drusus (AI) 10 month Cream, pleasing outline with a good level topline. Good head of the correct shape but I do hope it strengthens as he matures. Correctly placed ears which he uses to advantage. Dark, well shaped eyes of a good size giving a pleasing expression. Decent length of neck leading into well placed shoulders. Short forelegs, that could be a fraction straighter. Correct oval ribcage with good body coverage for his age. Well angulated hindquarters with good muscle tone. Moved out soundly. BPD, RBPIS
2nd) Simpson’s Tiny Winnie Argon Targaryon nice puppy that presents a well-balanced outline when standing, holding a level top line throughout. Super head, with good strength the skull. Well set ears with good fringing coming. Decent length of neck leading into broad, well-placed shoulders. Elbows could be tighter and forelegs could be straighter. Well bodied, with good length of rib leading back into a short loin. Good turn of stifle and well-muscled hindquarters. Moved adequately around the ring, sound behind but very close in front.
Class 4 Junior Dog (2)
1st) Simpson’s Tiny Winnie Argon Targaryon – 2nd puppy dog
2nd) Heale’s Rhoderns Arbika of Trelawneki, black male that is presented in superb coat and condition and really makes a lovely picture standing, with the correct outline, being long, low and level. Masculine head of good strength and dark expressive eyes. Unfortunately, his ears are neither pricked nor dropped and ruin the overall appearance. Good depth to chest, with elbows tight and short, straight forelegs. Long neck leading back into broad shoulders. Deep oval ribcage set well back into a short loin. Well-developed and angulated hind quarters. He is sound up and back on the move but today unfortunately was favouring a leg.
Class 5 Yearling Dog (1)
1st) Kovacikova’s Flanagan The Legend – superb cream drop, with a striking outline when standing, presenting an excellent typical shape and just the right size. Masculine head with enough strength. Correct strong jaw, with a good bite. Medium sized dark eyes, so full of character. Well set drop ears with good fringing for his age. Deep chest. Short, strong forelegs with elbows tight to his chest. Elegant length of neck with a slight crest, leading into a spirit level topline that never faltered. Oval ribcage extending well back into a short loin. Powerful hindquarters with plenty of muscle tone which he uses to advantage on the move as he powers free & seamlessly around the ring and so sound both coming and going. At 20 months he is in super coat of the correct texture and condition and his colour is clearing nicely. An object lesson in presentation and he was handled to perfection to get the very best out of him. I had no hesitation in awarding him the DCC and ultimately Best in Show.
Class 6 Graduate Dog (2)
1st) Taylor’s Riskerytree Ruaridh at Billkenstar black of a good overall shape and outline. Masculine head, with enough strength to foreface, good stop and width to skull, well placed ears which could be firmer. Long neck, with slight crest, laying well back into good shoulder placement. Short front legs. Deep chest, correct oval rib cage. Level topline with his tail set right off the level of his back. Good muscular well angled hindquarters, which he used well when moving. Coat of the correct harsh texture and presented well.
2nd) Simpson’s Tiny Winnie Argon Targaryon – 2nd puppy dog
Class 7 Post Graduate Dog (1)
1st) Mason’s Bhatairnis Fasach 6 year old black of a good honest type. Masculine head of the correct proportions, with a lovely expression. Well placed ears, with good furnishing. Good neck and shoulders and ok in front.. Ribs oval and set well back. Too well bodied which is causing his topline to dip. Well developed hindquarters, short straight legs. Moved soundly, both coming and going just would like to see a little more drive and enthusiasm. Beautifully presented.
Class 8 Limit Dog (5, 2abs)
1st) Lyne’s Madaza Box of Frogs glamorous drop who presents a typical outline. He has a lovely strong masculine head, with good width to his skull and the correct strong jaw. Well fringed ears that are set correctly. Good length of neck with a slight crest, laying back well into good front angulation. Front legs short with good bone and elbows close to chest. Good depth of chest. Ribs set well back into a short loin. Topline could be more level. Strong, well angulated hindquarters with good muscle tone. Lovely and sound on the move with a good free, easy action. Presented in 1st class order.
2nd) De Leie’s Verumamicus Cicero with Castrumskye masculine dog that presents a nice outline standing with a good level topline. He has a lovely head, of the correct proportions and of good strength. Well set, black fringed ears, used well at all times. Good length of neck leading into good shoulder placement. Forelegs could be straighter and elbows closer to his chest. Enough depth of chest. Rib cage of a good length and the correct shape. Good strong hindquarters. Moved well and soundly both ways. He is needing a little more length of coat, but he has a good coat of the correct texture.
3rd) McLeod’s Esgia Glen Garioch
Class 9 Open Dog (4)
1st) Pringle’s Ch Esgia The Exciseman ShCEx quality dog who is incredibly glamorous to look at with a full cream coat and lovely black points. Lovely outline and holds a lovely firm topline and is long and low. He has a gorgeous head, masculine and of a good strength. Correct strong jaw, with a good bite. He has well placed ears furnished with long black fringing. Adequate length of neck, laying back into well placed shoulders. Great depth of chest. Ribs deep and oval and of a good length. Well bodied. Well angulated, strong hindquarters with good muscle tone. He moved around the ring very soundly and with style always keeping a firm topline. Unfortunately, he seemed to flag a little in the challenge so had to settle for the RCC. Presented immaculately.
2nd) Heath’s Ch Lavaux’s Bahimian Chris lovely sized silver dog with a super outline, holding a firm topline at all times. Strong head of the correct shape with expressive eyes. Well set ears, with good fringing. Good length of neck with well laid back shoulders. Well boned, short forelegs. Good oval ribcage that extends well back. Muscular rear which he uses well on the move. Very sound coming and going and free and easy in profile, just tends to flag his tail a little too high which detracts from the overall outline. Another presented to perfection in a correct harsh jacket.

Class 10 Veteran Dog (1)
1st) Kendrick’s Ch Frisco Kiaora at Jeraro (Imp Cze) at 8 years of age this boy really is still full of life and loving it. He has a masculine head with just enough strength and with lovely black furnishings Well placed, large ears. He is lovely to go over, with a good length of neck leading into the correct front angulation. Lovely oval ribs set well back, bodied well. Strong rear quarters, well muscled, and straight legs. Tail set correctly off a good topline, which is always held firm. In excellent coat and condition. Moved out very well and soundly and so full of himself and was seriously considered in the challenge. Delighted to award him BVIS.

1st) Chapman’s Verumamicus Dione at Melminds very promising puppy with a lot to like. Excellent outline and good overall balance. Pretty head with good strength for age lovely expressive eyes. Strong jaw and correct bite. Good length of neck leading into well placed shoulders. Well bodied for her age and she has a correct oval shaped rib cage that leads back into a short loin. Well angulated hindquarters, with good muscle. Moved around the ring freely and happily. Very sound in front, just needs to strengthen a little in rear but I’ve no doubt this will happen as she matures. Delighted to award her BPIS and I am sure she will have a very exciting future ahead of her.
2nd) Sugg’s Verumamicus Dorothea, litter sister to 1 just not as forward as her sister just yet. Very similar in make and shape. Pretty head, not lacking strength but a little short in foreface. Correct ear placement, which she uses well. Good neck and shoulders and well boned forelegs. Well bodied with good ribbing and holding a level topline. Not as settled as her sister on the move yet but has all the essentials there. Presented very well with a correctly textured coat.
Class 15 Junior Bitch (1, 1 abs)

1st) Kanasova’s Flangan The Day After sister to the DCC winner and this cracking cream bitch brings the standard to life and is so full of breed type. Her outline is so typical, being long, low and level and size a lovely size. I loved her head, so feminine, but not lacking the strength needed in a Skye head. Strong fore face with a good stop and good width of skull. Ears well set, with good furnishings coming framing her head beautifully. She is so lovely to go over, great length of neck, laying well back into broad shoulders, that are set well. Her elbows are close to her chest and her forelegs short and straight. Super depth of chest. She is bodied so well and has lovely deep oval ribs that go right back into the correct short loin. Super strong, well angulated hindquarters that are muscled well, legs straight. She is very sound on the move but unfortunately, I don’t think she could show off her full potential today in the small ring we had and therefore had to settle for the RCC but a super bitch and I am sure there will be lots to come from her. Presented to perfection.
Class 17 Graduate Bitch (2, 1 abs)
1st) Whitelam’s Madaza Star, Pretty bitch of a lovely size and shape. Feminine head with enough strength, dark, well placed sparking eyes. Correctly placed ears with good fringing coming. Good length of neck leading into well placed shoulders. Excellent, straight, short forelegs with elbows tight to her chest. Correct oval ribcage set back into a short loin. Well angulated rear with good muscle tone. Moves around the ring freely and ever so sound, holding her topline all the way.
Class 18 Post Graduate Bitch (4, 1 abs)
1st) Volkova’s Verumamicus Calypso cream bitch who is not an instant eye catcher standing as she doesn’t make much of herself on the stance, however she has a good overall balance and is well off for size. I really loved her head, feminine but not lacking the strength required for the breed. Good strong jaw. Expressive dark eyes and well set fringed ears which she used to advantage. Good length of neck leading back into well placed shoulders. Short, well boned forelegs with elbows tight to her chest. Ribs set well back into a short loin giving her a firm topline. Well-muscled rear which she really used well on the move, powering around the small ring we had and being so sound with it. Coat of the correct texture and well presented. Nice to see she is the mother of BPIS & RBPIS
2nd) Holt’s Coriend Let’s Do Justice on first impression I thought this bitch would be my class winner. Such a glamorous bitch with a beautifully presented cream jacket. Lovely size and nice overall shape. She had a very feminine head which I would like to have more strength all over. Excellent ear set. Good length of neck leading into well placed shoulders. Forelegs short, could be a bit straighter and have more bone. Oval ribcage set well back. Firm topline and correct tail set. Well-muscled rear. Moved out soundly, just not with the pizazz of 1. Very well handled.
3rd) McLeod’s Esgia Lone Wolf
Class 19 Limit Bitch (5, 1abs)
1st) McLeod’s Esgia Cry Freedom, really lovely 2 year old black, drop bitch who is a super size and such a neat little package. Excellent make and shape. Very pretty head with enough strength. Dark, expressive eyes well placed. Correctly set dropped ears with good fringing, framing her head nicely. Good length neck and well placed shoulders. Excellent front with short, straight forelegs. Deep chest and correct oval ribcage set back into a short loin. Well bodied. Well angulated rear which she uses to advantage on the move as she moves around the ring with ease and ever so sound. Presented in tip top condition with a correctly textured coat and handled to get the very best out of her. Very much considered for the CC today, I am sure her title will not be far off.
2nd) Grainger’s Black Cuillins Catriona (Imp Deu) a bitch I have judged before and did well as a puppy, she has matured lovely and is classic bitch with lots to like. Good overall shape and balance. Lovely head of good strength and strong jaw. Well set, expressive eyes. Ears fringed and set well. Nice length of neck with a slight crest leading back into well laid shoulders. Short, well boned, straight forelegs. Ribcage set well back into a short loin. For me today she was carrying far too much weight. Well-muscled rear which she used to advantage on the move. Presented in the correct harsh textured coat.

Class 20 Open Bitch (4, 1 abs)
1st) Pringle’s Ch Esgia First and Fairest extremely glamorous, up to size Cream bitch that creates a very striking picture when viewed from across the ring and so full of breed type. Well balanced bitch with good length and always holds a sprit level topline. Beautiful head, very feminine but with the strength needed for the breed. Well placed, dark, expressive eyes. Beautifully fringed black ears, framing her head perfectly and used well. Excellent length of neck leading back into well placed shoulders. Short, straight forelegs with elbows tight to her deep chest. Correct oval ribcage covered well, set well back into a good short loin. Topline held firm at all times. Well angulated hindquarters with good muscle tone. Correct coat texture and presented to perfection. Moves out very well and so sound, with a lovely free flowing action. Today is one of the best I have seen her looking and I could not deny her the CC & RBIS.
2nd) Curtis’ Ch Verumamicus Aurora of Brakemill JW OSW a quality cream bitch of 6 years. She is very stylish when viewed from the side and does present a good outline, just for me is a little too big for a bitch. She has a good head, with a lovely expression. Super length of neck which lays back into broad well-placed shoulders and short, well boned forelegs. Oval ribcage set well back into a short loin and well bodied. Well angulated, strong hindquarters, with enough muscle tone. Topline not as firm as I have seen previously. Moved out with a free and easy action, sound both ways. Presented and handled superbly like always by this handler.
3rd) Roberts’ Tarskavaig Speed Bonny Boat at Sunabil

1st) Heath’s Perrylands Hello Again lovely cream bitch, who is a beautiful size and shape. Feminine head, with good strength to foreface and dark expressive eyes. Ears set well and used to advantage. Slightly crested neck of good length leading into well placed shoulders. Forelegs could be slightly straighter, but they are short with good bone. Ribs set well back into a short loin and well bodied. Moved out well and soundly. Excellent harsh jacket presented well. A girl to be proud of.
2nd) McLeod’s Noap Chariot Madlen Mardzheri at Esgia (Imp Rus) silver bitch of a good breed type and nice overall balance. Feminine head with lovely expression and good strength to foreface. Good neck leading into well placed shoulders. Well boned, short forelegs. Great depth of chest. Ribcage set well back and well very bodied. Good rear angulation with enough muscle tone. Moved out soundly and with a nice easy action. Excellent coat and condition.

1st) Volkova’s Ch Juger Edelweiss Mary Poppins (Imp Est) ShCM a really lovely cream bitch who I can hardly believe is 10 already! On the larger side but she has everything in the right place and is lovely to go over. Super head with good strength, dark expressive eyes and ears correctly set. Excellent length of neck with slight crest, leading into well placed shoulders. One of the best fronts of the day with elbows tight to chest and forelegs, short and straight. Well ribbed, set back into short loin and still holding a firm topline. Can still teach the youngsters how to move, freely striding out around the ring and being ever so sound both ways. Coat in lovely condition.
