Skye Terrier Club Championship Show 2025
My thanks to the committee and members of the Skye Terrier Club for the invitation to judge the 2025 Championship show.
I was overwhelmed with the fabulous entry and feel very privileged to have been given the chance to go over so many beautiful Skyes, thank you to all those that entered and took my decisions so sportingly. I thoroughly enjoyed my day which started with being piped into the hall by Rob McManus, accompanied by Pasha dressed in his kilt, the only thing that could of made it more special would have been if we were all on Skye!
My thanks to my very efficient steward Sue Large who kept the classes running freely.
It was lovely to see some new faces in the ring, a must for our breed to continue and of course the puppies, always good to see and I know there will be more pups being shown in the coming year, so exciting.
Overall quality was good, no issue with mouths and I am happy to say fronts have improved immensely. Presentation is also improving and I have seen definite improvements with new partnerships I have been watching throughout the year. It is good to see lots of support being given to newcomers, a must if we want our breed to survive these challenging times.

1st – McManus – Feorlig One Short Day – 11 month old cream Skye. This is a new partnership in showing, pup and handler are learning together the skills required and with encouragement from fellow exhibitors it is lovely to see the improvement from show to show. He has a lovely masculine head, going into a long neck. Correct front, level top line, well muscled, moved with drive. Pleased to award him Best puppy in Show.
Junior Dog ( 2 entries)
1st. Birgisdottir – Skorradals Badass – 18 month grey drop ear. Lovely head with that unique drop expression. Great outline, correct rib to loin ratio. Well muscled, moved with drive from the rear and front feet moving straight & true.
2nd. O’Rourke – Struanmore Belemos – 16 months cream. Lovely head, well made throughout, moved out well, very slightly taller than 1st.
Yearling dog (1 entry)
1st – Taylor – Verumamicus Drusus – 22 months old cream. Good head, fringing on ears coming. Good neck & shoulders, held top line. Moved well.

Graduate Dog (1 entry)
1st – Heale – Rhoderns Arbika of Trewlawneki – a 2 year old dark boy. Lovely outline, long neck, well placed shoulders, level top line. Moved well although a little hesitant at the top of the ring. Would prefer a tighter ear set.
Post Graduate (2 entries)
1st – Simpson – Tiny Winne Argon Targaryen (imp Swe) – not quite 2 years old. Cream boy with a super masculine head & lovely black ears. Soundly constructed throughout, kept his top line at all times. Moved steadily around the ring. Another partnership that has come along way in the last 12 months.
2nd – Taylor – Riskerytree Ruaridh at Bilkenstar – dark grey. Nice outline, good front. In good coat, motored around the ring.
Limit dog (3 entries, 1 absent.)
1st – McLean – Full of Fun Moravia Campanella – 3 years old dark grey, nice size, long neck, good front and level top line.
2nd – De Leie – Verumamicus Cicero with Castrumskye – 4 year old cream. Masculine head with dark points. Overall sound conformation. Moved steadily.
Open dog (5 entries)
A lovely class of boys, all of a similar size.
1st – Sanderson – Esgia Highland Laddie VW – dark grey boy who has matured into a very handsome lad. I gave him a reserve cc two years ago and was very pleased to give him the CC and reserve Best in Show today. A very masculine head with well set ears which when he uses them gives a lovely overall expression. Long neck, well placed shoulders & front, correct rib to loin, level top line and a lovely well groomed and long coat making an overall handsome outline. Moved with drive around the ring. Handler and dog have come a long way since their very first outing.
2nd – Turner – Knowlespring Quincy SHCEX – Cream dog, lovely masculine head with black points. Good front, level top line. Harsh straight coat. Moved out well. Res. CC.

1st – Pringle – Ch Esgia The Exciseman SHCEX – 7 years of age cream boy, still looking good. Lovely head, neck & shoulders. Flowed around the ring. Best Veteran in show.

1st. – Volkova – Verumamicus Erinyes – 5 month dark puppy, quite confident in her ring presence already. Nicely balanced and pleasing to go over. Very promising.
2nd – DeLeie – Castrumskye Megan – also 5 months old & dark in colour. Lovely outline but a little over awed by the whole experience.
Minor Puppy Bitch – (3 entries)
1st – Thomas – Powdersnow Serephina Yarragold – 9 month old dark grey. Pretty head, nice neck & front. Correct rib to loin ratio. Very promising.
2nd – Whitelam – Headscrook Northern Light – also 9 months. Cream baby, nice to go over & moved out well, full of character. Her top line was a little soft today.
Puppy Bitch (2 entries)
1st. – Hamilton – Headscrook Heavenly Dancer – 9 months old. Another very promising pup. Dark grey in colour, Well balanced and pleasing to go over.
2nd – Neilston – Vindavola Seraphina at Auchenbathie – 9 months old. A lovely outline and again pleasing to go over. A little overawed on the day.
Junior Bitch (3 entries)
1st – O’Rourke – Struanmore Aos Si – 16 months. Very pretty cream with good dark pigment. Well balanced, good front, rib to loin, in good coat and moved out well.
2nd – Moir – Struanmore May Queen – I see from the catalogue she is the litter sister to winner. Very similar in attributes, just preferred the movement of 1st on the day.
Yearling Bitch (2 entries, 1 absent)
1st – Taylor – Rhoderns Boreray at Shearsky – 20 months old. Cream drop-eared. Nice head & ears. Level top line. Steady mover.
Special Beginners (4 entries)
1st – Foster – Taytayskye Chipy Chip Coockye – 2 years old. Very pretty cream girl. Lovely head, nice throughout. Coat coming through. Steady mover.
2nd – Moir – Struanmore May Queen.
Graduate (4 entries)
1st – Whitelam – Madaza Star – 3.5 years. Presented a lovely outline. Lovely head, neck, shoulders, good front. Hard straight coat. Appears she has now decided what colour she wants to be. moved with drive. Pleased to award her the Reserve CC.
2nd – Kidd – Vindovola Loch Lomond at Coirelagan – 2 years ago old dark grey. Lovely head, good length of rib. Moved well. Very pleasing, should have a bright future.
Post Graduate (1 entry)
1st – McLean – Headscrook Going Home to Tarksavaig – Cream girl. 4 years old. Nice head, sound construction, harsh straight coat. Not really enjoying her day.

What a line up!
1st – Holt – Coriend Let’s Do Justice – at 3 years of age she is just blossoming. Another partnership I have enjoyed watching develop from the ringside. An extremely feminine bitch with a lovely head, long neck, good shoulders and front, nicely bodied and level top line. Lovely cream with good pigment. Coat long and straight. Moved out well. Very happy to award her the CC and Best in Show.
2nd – McLean – Rhoderns Heather – 4 years old. Another quality girl, lovely head, well made throughout with a harsh straight coat. Moved out well.

1st – Curtis – Brakemill Midsummer Dream JW – 4 year old dark grey. Soundly constructed and well balanced. Very feminine presenting a lovely outline, just needs to body up. Moved out well.
2nd – McLean – Ella Elle L’Moravia Campanella Cze Imp Taf – Another quality girl. Lovely head, neck & front, in good coat.
Veteran Bitch (5 entries)
1st – Curtis – Ch Verumamicus Aurora of Brakemill JW – larger than I would like for a bitch, but she is all quality. Lovely head & expression, soundly made and in good coat. Went around the ring with drive.
2nd – Heath – Perrylands Hello Again – 9.5 years. A quality girl, so feminine. Presents a lovely outline.
Vintage (2 entries)
1st – McLeod – Noap Charoit Malden Mardzheri at Esgia – 11 years old and still enjoying life. A pretty pale grey. So soundly constructed that showed in her fluid movement as she went around. Best Vintage in Show.
2nd – Volkova – Ch Juger Edelweiss Mary Poppins – also 11 years. Cream girl, I gave her a CC a few years back. Still good to go over and in great condition.
